AJO - GËRSHETAT - EFG London Jazz Festival 2026

AJO – GËRSHETAT – EFG London Jazz Festival 2026

Kosovo-born, London-based singer-songwriter, composer and multi-instrumentalist AJO returns to the EFG London Jazz Festival with the launch of her long-awaited debut album, Gërshetat (“Braids”).

Following sold-out performances at the Royal Albert Hall, Rich Mix and the EFG London Jazz Festival, AJO has established herself as one of the leading contemporary voices bringing Albanian musical heritage to international audiences. With Gërshetat, she presents her most ambitious work to date – a collection of ten songs that weave together the traditions, memories and stories of Albania and Kosovo through contemporary jazz, world music and original composition.

Inspired by the symbolism of braids passed down through generations of Albanian women, Gërshetat intertwines stories of love, motherhood, identity, freedom, resilience and belonging. The album brings together beloved traditional songs alongside AJO’s original compositions, creating a dialogue between ancestral memory and modern artistic expression.

The evening is presented by Arts Canteen in collaboration with Grand Junction, as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival 2026.

Turtles carry cities, starfish dance, octopi read by lamplight – but who took the pictures and where will the camera travel next?

Kerry Andrew’s luminous new score and text blends music, movement and storytelling to explore curiosity, connection and the boundless power of imagination – a spellbinding adventure for audiences of all ages.

New Wave Arab: Celebrating the Next Generation of Arab Artists

New Wave Arab: Celebrating the Next Generation of Arab Artists

Discover the next generation of Arab artists redefining the region’s sound through a fusion of contemporary genres and live Arabic instrumentation

Isadora is a pharaoh brought to life – here to make compassion exciting and altruism cool. Her connection to her Egyptian roots has touched the hearts of millions who can relate to her story through music.

Vincent J is the magical yet down to earth prince striving for vtopia. Through vulnerability and catharsis, he connects with the people that he’ll lead to vtopia with him.

Layal is an Egyptian artist based in London. Her music is a form of self-expression before anything else. Rooted in the sounds of Cairo and shaped by a wide range of global influences, her work resists easy categorisation, blending instruments and genres in a way that feels instinctive rather than strategic.

Awadh is a Yemeni-British rapper who lives by example. His persistence in his craft is driven by passion, joy, and a deep desire of mastery.

Rhea Kattan is a Lebanese singer, songwriter, and drummer. She’s the odd one out. She lives in a realistic world with the purpose to challenge the boundaries of what sets us apart as people.

The evening is presented by SWANA records and Marsm UK in collaboration with Grand Junction, as part of the Right Here, Right Now programme, supported by the DCMS and Arts Council England (Supporting Grassroots Music fund).
