Easily recognizable by her elaborate head wraps and captivating stage presence, Oum el Ghait Benessahraoui, known as Oum, is a Moroccan singer of Saharan origins. Defined by lyrics full of social commentary, and finding inspiration in the traditional Moroccan rhythms of Gnawa, Hassani and Sufi, as much as jazz, gospel and African music, Oum is considered an ambassador of Moroccan culture. This will be a rare opportunity for audiences to see the Moroccan diva in the UK.

Oum’s performance is presented as part of Arab Women Artists Now. AWAN, now in its seventh edition, aims to bring the phenomenal work of inspiring Arab women artists to a wider audience.
